Six Reasons We Love Cold Process Soap

In today's world, it's easy to grab a brightly colored bar of soap off the grocery store shelf without giving it much thought. But once you've experienced a handcrafted cold process soap, it's hard to go back.

At Johnson & Co., every bar is thoughtfully made in small batches, cured with patience, and crafted with premium ingredients because we believe everyday routines should be something to enjoy—not just another item to check off the list.

Here are six reasons we love cold process soap and why we think you will too.

1. Every Bar Is Handcrafted

Unlike commercial soaps produced by the thousands, cold process soap is made in small batches. Each loaf is carefully mixed, poured, cut, and cured by hand.

That means every bar is unique. Slight variations in color, swirl patterns, or botanicals are part of what makes handcrafted soap special. They're a reminder that someone took the time to create something with care. It also means that someone (me) acknowledges the responsibility of producing a safe, enjoyable product for you and your family. As a mother of four, I know how important it is to provide the best for our families.

2. Naturally Rich in Glycerin

One of the biggest differences between handcrafted and many commercial soaps is glycerin.

Glycerin is a natural byproduct of the soapmaking process and is valued because it helps attract moisture to the skin. Many large manufacturers remove glycerin during production for use in other products, while cold process soap retains it as part of the finished bar.

The result is a soap that many people enjoy for its creamy, gentle feel. Johnson & Co. isn’t operating with profits in mind, rather, your comfort and experience.

3. Thoughtfully Selected Ingredients

We believe simple ingredients make beautiful products. As stewards of this land, its our responsibility to ensure nature is providing everything we need in life. Natural animal fats, milk byproducts, pressed oils, essential oils and thoughtfulness.

That's why our soaps are made with nourishing oils and butters like:

Olive Oil

• Shea Butter

• Coconut Oil

• Castor Oil

Each ingredient is chosen for the qualities it contributes to the finished bar—from creamy lather to a long-lasting, balanced cleanse.

4. Small Batches Mean Better Quality

Making soap by hand takes time.

Each batch is mixed carefully, poured by hand, and cured for several weeks before it's ready to become part of your daily routine. Our soap is put through rigor test quality check throughput the process. Batch management, lot numbers and standard production methods all contribute to the highest quality bar.

That slower process allows us to inspect every batch for quality and consistency before it reaches your home.

5. It's About More Than Soap

To us, soap is more than something you use every morning.

It's the beginning of your day.

It's washing away the dirt after working in the garden.

It's preparing for family dinner.

It's slowing down for just a few quiet moments.

At Johnson & Co., we believe the products we bring into our homes should reflect the life we want to live—one rooted in faith, family, hospitality, and grace.

Every bar we make is created with that purpose in mind.

6. Choosing Products with Purpose

Every purchase tells a story.

In a world filled with endless choices, we believe there's value in slowing down and being intentional about what we bring into our homes. Purposeful buying isn't about having more—it's about choosing well.

When you know exactly what is in the products you use every day, you can shop with confidence. We believe our customers deserve transparency, quality ingredients, and products that are thoughtfully crafted from start to finish.

At Johnson & Co., every recipe is carefully developed using ingredients selected for their quality and purpose. We proudly share what goes into each bar because we believe you should know what you're bringing into your home and using every day.

For us, handcrafted soap represents more than a daily routine—it reflects a commitment to intentional living, thoughtful purchasing, and supporting small businesses that value craftsmanship over mass production.

When you choose Johnson & Co., you're not simply buying soap.

You're investing in products made with care, supporting a family-owned business, and choosing to fill your home with items that reflect your values of faith, family, and grace.
